The Germiston facility, located on a 30,000m² property, of which 17,000m² are under roof, is home to the multistage centrifugal pump division and Scamont’s in-house foundry.
The facility is structured in staged sections to allow for optimum efficiency; warehousing, stores, foundry, manufacturing, repair, stripping and assembly as well as administration.
The manufacturing facility combines ultra-modern manufacturing technology including 3D measurement facilities, 5-axis machining centres, and CNC vertical and horizontal boring mills. This is backed up with conventional manufacturing technology such as horizontal boring mills, vertical boring mills and lathes.
Additional onsite services offered include specialist in-house design and engineering, complemented by qualified and experienced mechanical engineers, draftsman, artisans, setters and programmers.
The foundry supplies quality ferrous and non-ferrous castings of up to 3000 kilograms. Key features of the foundry include a continuous sand plant, a core blower, spectrographic analysis and material certification. The foundry offers chilled spin-casting facility for impellers, ensuring absolute mechanical and metallurgical integrity of the end product.
The Roodepoort facility is the head office of the Scamont Group, and is home to the Positive Displacement pump division, manufacturing new units in addition to supplying spares and carrying out repairs. The 3,500m² under roof facility is optimized for efficiency and includes manufacturing, assembly and test facilities, repairs and stripping facilities, stores, inventory as well as administration.
As one would expect from a high-calibre manufacturing firm, the Roodepoort facility combines conventional and modern manufacturing technology such as; 5-axis and 4-axis machining centres, a double pallet vertical machining centre, CNC lathes as well as metal spray facilities. This is over-and-above horizontal boring mills, vertical boring mills, lathes, and internal and external grinders, milling and drilling machines, and gear cutting. Further, the facilities provide in-house fabrication, design and engineering capabilities.
By virtue of the manufacturing resources offered across both divisions (premises), Scamont boasts the ability to manufacture all of its products in-house, outsourcing only a few specialty value-added elements such as heat treatment and special coatings. Scamont’s quality assurance programme facilitates full traceability – from initial placement of the order for raw material right through to the finished product. As a result, the company is able to boast a negligible defect rate.
Scamont offers its customers world-class products at globally competitive prices; backed by readily available spares, repair capabilities and strong technical support.
